One’s bookshelf is the most sacred place for any book lover. A lot of care goes into the arrangement of a bookshelf. Book Nooks are great for adding a touch of intrigue to that arrangement. Not only are book nooks beautiful, but a well-designed one can also tell a story.

Book nooks can embody a wide range of ideas. The true essence of a book nook lies in how the crafter manages to convey the ideas. In this article, we’ll talk about the inspiration behind our best-selling book nooks.

What Makes A Great Book Nook Inspiration?

Several things help make a book nook truly unique. Most people focus on the craftsmanship, and detail of a piece. But any artist can tell you that the most fundamental thing for anything of artistic value lies in the inspiration behind it.

The inspiration sets the benchmark for art, and it’s also true in the case of book nooks. The initial inspiration is the nucleus of a book nook, and its value depends on how well the craftsman can capture the essence of the inspiration while adding artistic twists.

You can also think of the initial inspiration as the spark of life that bestows a book nook with its uniqueness. However, the inspiration doesn’t need to be grand in and of itself. Even something as simple as a regular coffee shop interior can become an amazing inspiration.

Stories Behind Our Book Nooks

Without further ado, let’s delve into the inspiration behind some of our most famous book nooks:

1940s Train Cabin Book Nook

The 1940s Train Cabin is our first book nook featuring motion. As such, a lot of careful planning went into its creation. In brief, the book nook features a cozy train cabin from the steam train era. The interior has a warm and homely aura.

We chose the train theme for our first dynamic book nook because of several factors. The first is that it is a theme that goes well with a wide range of styles and artistic preferences. Trains, especially, the old steam trains are aesthetically androgynous across cultures. It is something that appeals to anyone from any cultural background.

The particular reason for choosing the 1940s train cabin as the inspiration lies in the fact that the train cabins from that period were absolutely charming. They radiate a sense of serenity that is very captivating.

Capturing the essence of a subject such as that was a challenge for us. We paid meticulous attention to detail while designing every component to make it as lifelike as possible.

Ginzan Onsen Book Nook

The Ginzan Onsen book nook focuses on the Notoya Ryokan- a traditional-style Japanese inn. The inn is situated in the town of Ginzan Onsen. This particular book nook is an intricate mesh of traditional Japanese architecture with some modern intonations.

An interesting thing you might notice when looking at this book nook is the fact that it does not solely feature the inn. The inn is certainly a prominent aspect of it, but our design team tried very hard to incorporate as many icons of the town of Ginzan Onsen into it as possible.

That’s why the Inn does not directly resemble the original inn. There’s a space in the middle for a train cart. And various iconographies are embellished upon the sliding doors that are not present in the original inn.

JiuFen Old Street Book Nook

Sometimes inspiration comes after gruelling research when designing something. Other times, it comes like an epiphany clad in spontaneity. The latter was the case with our JiuFen Old Street book nook.

The inspiration for this book nook came from our team's Taiwan vacation. JiuFen, sometimes pronounced Chiufen is a mining town in Taiwan. The mines are non-operational now, and it has become a tourist town. It is a town surrounded by both old and modern architecture.

In this book nook, we tried to capture the essence of the bustling world we saw in that town. The narrow roads and the endless throngs of people amidst paper lanterns offer a very unique experience.

There are endless shops and restaurants all tucked into the large buildings, much like how books are tucked into the bookshelves. And we tried our best to capture the essence of that very unique atmosphere in our book nook.

Renaissance Grand Library Book Nook

The Renaissance grand library book nook is heavily inspired by the Admont Abbey Library in terms of overall designs. You can notice the resemblance with the stained-glass windows and murals.

But the book nook deviates from the original library with the stairs. The stairs present in the book nook are more mysterious. They invoke a sense of confusion and grandness.

The walls, instead of being marble coated like the Admont Abbey Library, are more rustic. The Stoney texture of the wall is much more reminiscent of castle walls during the Renaissance. All in all, it’s a fine piece that bears the mark of various architectural designs of historic Europe.

Conclusion

Hopefully, after learning about the inspiration behind our best-selling book nooks, you’ll find them more appealing. All of our book nooks are crafted with meticulous care and high-quality materials. And we have a lot more in stock than just the ones mentioned here. So, feel free to check them out.
