It was challenging. This one took a lot more glue than others. Thank goodness for the spare parts. The switch is working well, but needs to be tightened once in a while.

Before You Step Into the Walled City of 2049…
Everything you need to know before you bring Kowloon’s neon-lit chaos to life.
What exactly is the Kowloon Walled City 2049 Book Nook Kit?
Inspired by the now-demolished Kowloon Walled City in Hong Kong, this kit reimagines how the city might look in the year 2049, a neon-lit labyrinth blending the past and the future. Each detail reflects the contrast between chaotic architecture and glowing cyberpunk life, allowing you to build your own dystopian masterpiece filled with character, nostalgia, and imagination.
Does it come with working lights? How does it work?
Yes, every ANAVRIN® kit comes with fully functional LED lights that bring your miniature world to life. Each kit includes a pre-wired lighting system with clear instructions showing exactly where to place and connect each light. Once assembled, simply insert 2 × AAA batteries into the battery box, switch it on, and watch your creation glow with warmth and realism. The gentle illumination adds a beautiful, cozy ambiance, perfect for nighttime display or as a unique decorative lamp.
In fact, one of the signboards even features dynamic color-changing lights that shift from red to green to blue, adding a vibrant and lifelike touch that makes your scene feel truly alive.
Is it beginner-friendly?
Yes, it’s suitable for both newcomers and experienced builders. All pieces are pre-colored, pre-cut, and numbered, so there’s no need for painting or advanced tools. The average build time is around 5 to 7 hours. Simply follow the English instruction manual and watch the Walled City come to life piece by piece.
What’s included inside the box?
The kit comes with everything you need to recreate Kowloon’s iconic maze of neon alleys. Inside, you’ll find pre-colored wooden pieces, LED lighting with a USB cable, a detailed instruction guide, a dust cover for display, and futuristic décor elements like signboards, wires, and miniature storefronts.
(Glue and batteries are not included due to shipping restrictions.)
What makes Anavrin’s kits special?
Every ANAVRIN creation is inspired by our team’s travels, experiences, and imagination. Kowloon Walled City 2049 is our tribute to one of the most densely built and mysterious places in history, re-envisioned through a futuristic lens. We designed it to capture the gritty soul of old Hong Kong combined with the glowing pulse of a cyberpunk future.
Can I gift it to someone?
Absolutely, and it leaves a lasting impression. Each kit arrives beautifully packaged and makes an unforgettable gift for art lovers, sci-fi fans, and creative builders.
✨ 97% of our customers said this was the best gift they’ve received in a long time, offering hours of creativity, focus, and excitement.
What if I break or lose a piece?
Don’t worry! Our support team can send replacement parts so your Walled City remains complete and beautiful. Just contact us and we’ll handle it quickly.
Do I need any extra tools?
You’ll only need a silicone-based craft glue and a pair of scissors or tweezers. Everything else is already included in the box.
Are these suitable for children?
We recommend the kit for ages 10 and above. Many parents have shared that their younger children enjoy building it together with some help. It’s a great way to spark imagination, patience, and creativity while spending time away from screens.
Customer Reviews
Overall rating: 4.8 / 5 from 9694 reviews.
Always enjoy these kits, very tiny peices, cut and printed well, love the lights and stickers.
Really enjoyed putting this together and would recommend. I added a few different options or additions.
J’ai passé un excellent moment à tout assembler!! Hâte de recommander un kit🥹🤍
Another great book nook from Anavrin showcasing the historic Bukchon Hanok village neighborhood in Seoul that includes traditional South Korean houses and the iconic Seoul tower as a backdrop. Dark-tiled curved roofs, and wood-and-stone architecture contrasted against the backdrop of modern city skyscrapers. Fun to put together and the finished product is timeless.
The end result is beautiful! But there were a few things I wasn’t crazy about. The first being that there is a great deal of ” Fussy work” Involving very tiny pieces of plastic that were not the easiest to work with, if you’re older.. I love the lighting. The one thing I disliked outright was at the beginning: you had to add the back piece and it did nothing but keep falling over throughout the entire build. It drove me crazy. But the end result was spectacular! My son will love it. Thank you Anvarin!
This is my third Anavrin build and I can honestly say I consider this my legacy piece. It’s my Hands-down favorite kit that I’ve ever assembled. The quality and detail is astonishing! I had no problems. The wiring was perfect in terms of fit and length and the pieces are made of thick wood and beautifully detailed acrylic. I would rate this an intermediate to advanced kit, but if you just follow the very clear directions, I think most anyone could do it. This is my all-time favorite company. I’m getting ready to build the Seoul Kit, next. Thank you, Anavrin. Your kits cost a little more but they are worth every penny!
Loved it & looks amazing finished. Looks like a piece of art and all the tiny details are amazing. Instructions were very clear and easy to understand. Had so much fun building it, though it did only take 6-7 hours. Sadly one of my deers was broken, but it looks good without it too. The touch-power button did not work well, but I tried adding some aluminium foil and it seems to work better.. Wish the music box played something more fantasy-ish music, but it sounds nice.
Whispering Hollow Miniature House Kit (Music Box) | Collector's Edition
Jammer dat sommige delen niet goed in elkaar paste.
Whispering Hollow Miniature House Kit (Music Box) | Collector's Edition
What a great build. The product quality is top notch. So many details to contribute to the story. The outside walls tell a story too. The lighting was very easy to follow.
Hands down, the best one yet! So much attention to detail, little hidden nooks, and a rewarding experience all round. The pieces fit together well.
Whispering Hollow Miniature House Kit (Music Box) | Collector's Edition
This was a challenging build! That being said, if you take your time and are patient You will be blown away at the end just as I was! This kit is the highest quality of any kit. I’ve built to date.. The directions were clear, although somehow I messed up and can’t get the dust cover on the front. But building the lanterns and assembling the umbrellas really took the build to another level. I would consider myself experienced and it still took me several days at 5 to 6 hours a day. It’s worth the time and the money. I would recommend this over any other brand and I have built them all.
Cat's crossing was so much fun to put together! The greenery was great and added a good touch to the overall aesthetic. I love that you can arrange the books however you want. This detail makes it easy to create a unique look for yourself. The only problem I have had is with the on/off button. It doesn't work when installed. It works when not installed though. Still a fun build and a good looking finish.
Best experience I’ve had building a book nook, the pieces fit together so well and the instructions were incredibly clear thanks to the large colour printing. I added a few extra customisations just to make it my own and I absolutely love how it turned out!
What a centerpiece! I adore it. Turned out so well. Very enchanting and it was so much fun to embellish with various static grasses and vines I had on hand. I caked the tree with the fake grass by using B-7000 glue and dipping the tree in it. I also used some of the fiber fill from the deer boxes on the waterfall ridge for a misty mountain effect.
Whispering Hollow Miniature House Kit (Music Box) | Collector's Edition
This is so much fun I just love it. People look at it and are fascinated by the detail! I am working on the cat crossing which is a little harder but fun too. I have ordered my next project!
Whispering Hollow Miniature House Kit (Music Box) | Collector's Edition
I love it. It was so fun to make. The only problem I had was a little piece broke off where the battery pack is inserted. I think this is my favorite one so far again I love it.
Whispering Hollow Miniature House Kit (Music Box) | Collector's Edition
On sent que les matériaux sont de très grande qualité, et l'expérience de montage est géniale. Le rendu final est magnifique.
Whispering Hollow Miniature House Kit (Music Box) | Collector's Edition
This was a difficult build to be honest. Some very fiddly parts. I had some fit issues and some of the instructions were not very clear. I feel like I had to use a lot more glue than in previous builds. The on/off switch doesn't work when installed. It is a gorgeous end product though. I enjoyed the overall experience.
Whispering Hollow Miniature House Kit (Music Box) | Collector's Edition
This was really fun to build! It’s so cool to have a music box with the beautiful lights that showcase this magical little world. The only reason I have this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the specs seem to be a bit off at the base. The music box will get stuck because there isn’t enough clearance between the base that it’s contained in so you have to jiggle the box a bit to get the music box to continue playing through.
Whispering Hollow Miniature House Kit (Music Box) | Collector's Edition
Fun to build, and the pieces seemed well-constructed. This was my first piece and now I want to build more.
This was one of my favorite builds. The detail to all the different pieces is amazing! The directions for the wiring was a little confusing but overall it was a good time.
Only really getting into the meat of the kit, but I am enjoying the challenge. It’s not easy, and you have to concentrate, but that’s great for stress relief. The detailing is great, the pieces are superbly cut from the boards, and the look is quality. I’ll do another after Kyoto.
Great craft to spend time with on the weekends! Took my mind off work for quite some time. The instructions were easy to follow and everything was clearly labelled. Looking forward to my next purchase already (:
This was one of my favorite kits I’ve ever done. The quality is amazing, and the instructions are easy to follow.
다른 북눅킷에 비해 바닥 고정이 잘 안되네요..반 정도 하부가 떠 있어야 기둥을 세웠을 때 고정이 되는데..이 제품은 정말 짜증납니다..부셨습니다..

Magnifique, j’ai adoré la construction !
This was a fun build. The drink dispenser and the food details are so awesome. The middle lighting with the globes was my favorite detail. Great experience!
처음 시도한 책북미니어처인데..은근히 빠져드는 매력이 있네요..이것저것 부러져서 글루를 써서 다시 만들고..우여곡절 끝에 완성했는데 보람은 있네요
Muy buen producto!!! Calidad, super entretenido y muy bonito. Volvere a repetir con otra compra.
Beautifull!
Whispering Hollow Miniature House Kit (Music Box) | Collector's Edition
One of my favourites! A really beautifully crafted book nook. Every miniature detail feels intentional, from the warm architectural textures to the delicate bread displays, creating a truly immersive scene. The build quality is excellent, with clean components and a satisfying assembly process. Once completed, it becomes a stunning display piece that adds depth and character to any shelf or reading space, especially when illuminated, where it truly comes to life.
Great experience setting it up. Ive ordered over 15 booknooks or builds from various companies but this was by far the best. Really good quality and the instructions are so clear, it was a joy to set this up.
Whispering Hollow Miniature House Kit (Music Box) | Collector's Edition
I really enjoy putting these together. The detail is great, assembly is kind of zen, and the final product is super cool.
Zelfs de hond en kat wilden ook mee bouwen 😁 Heerlijk uren aan het freubelen geweest en heel blij met het resultaat! Zo leuk!
spend 6 hours together with my oldest offspring making this masterpiece :-)
In progress. The kit is super cute and made with quality materials. The circuit board and lights weren’t working but they are sending me a replacement. Very good customer service. This is my 2nd kit and I have another already purchased.
Love spending my spare time building these great looking little book nooks and all parts fit well together
This wooden Book Nook is an absolute masterpiece! Every detail has been thoughtfully designed, capturing the atmosphere, architecture, and nostalgic beauty of a bygone era. The craftsmanship is exceptional. The wooden pieces fit together perfectly, and the intricate decorations create an incredibly immersive scene. The warm lighting adds a magical touch, making the entire display come alive, especially in the evening. I cannot recommend this Book Nook highly enough. It combines creativity, craftsmanship, nostalgia, and cultural charm in a truly unforgettable way.
